WhoWhatWhy is a source of interesting comment and opinion, and formerly of original research in the area of deep politics. They were however largely taken in by the COVID project and since about 2020 their reporting has become more polemic and less evidence based. In 2024 Russ Baker went so far as to claim that there "are surely dozens and dozens of reasons that everyone should get vaccinated [against COVID-19]", while acknowledging that many longtime readers had written to him that he had lost his ability to see “what is really going on.”

The website was founded by Russ Baker. He has attracted a team of other writers.

Reporting

WhoWhatWhy has reported on the Boston Marathon Bombing and was critical of the claim that the event was planned and carried out by Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

Echoing of official narratives

WhoWhatWhy closely follows the official narrative on certain topics such as "climate change", the Russia-Ukraine War, and "Covid"

In contrast to fully independent media, articles and reports from WhoWhatWhy have been occasionally picked up commercially-controlled media such as The Huffington Post, Business Insider and Alternet.
