A shady paedophile/sex trafficking cult with US deep state backing.

The Finders were an obscure spiritual group based in Washington D.C. Under the leadership of Marion Pettie it "flourished underground for decades" and appears to have received protection by the US deep state after interest from US authorities.

Activities

On February 7th of 1987, the Washington Post ran a story on the Finders. The article concerned a case of possible kidnapping and child abuse, and material discovered in the Washington area that they say points to a 1960s style commune called the Finders, described in an court document as a "cult" that conducted "brainwashing" and used children "in rituals". Douglas Ammerman and James M. Holwell were charged with aggravated child neglect and held on $100,000 bond.

A Detective Bradley had initiated an investigation on the two addresses provided by the Tallahassee Police Department during December of 1986. Ramon J. Martinez, Special Agent with the USCS accompanied the following police raid from which most of the explosive information is derived. DC police who searched the Northeast Washington warehouse linked to the group removed large plastic bags filled with colour slides, photographs and photographic contact sheets. Some showed naked children involved in what appeared to be "cult rituals", bloodletting ceremonies of animals and one photograph of a child in chains. Martinez was later advised that investigation into the activity of the Finders had become a CIA internal matter.

From a later disclosure of investigative documents by the FBI, it was learned that many of the former members feared retribution from the Finders organisation. In one case, a former female member needed police intervention to stop harassment from the Finders and in another case, something was “burned down and remains a open arson.” Family members who spoke to detectives “stated that [redacted] had brainwashed their children” and “prevented any contact with their children or grandchildren.”

Initially the Finders story was sensationalized, but soon thereafter that sensationalism was to become the premise for dismissing the case - which left the groups ties to the CIA and FBI unexplored.

1987 police report

A report by the Washington D.C. MPD noted:

"It is the writers belief that the Finders organization is and has been utilized by the Central Intelligence Agency as a disinformation service spreading non essential, non-critical information to various organizations throughout the United States and overseas. This group to the most part is made up of over-educated non-achievers who lacked the inborn initiative to succeed on their own. Therefore they fell in with a charismatic leader who gave them direction and self importance. To the most part this organization individually is harmless. However when directed and monitored by a controlling factor they are capable of destructive and illegal activities. As in any cult structure the main drive is for the group and individual values and ideology is lost. Therefore when a member is asked to perform a task that hereto fore may have been objectionable, He or She performs this mission for the good of the group. As to the abuse of the children; I do not think that child abuse was a planned tactic of this group, but as in any cross section of society, sick and demented subjects belong to a cult as well. I do believe that the shaping of the children is a planned experiment of this group as in the case of the Nazi's they strove for a perfect society, thereby in their one way tried to form a group of children and ultimately adults that did not suffer from the ill's of normal society, but book only the benefits that afforded than perfection. Lastly I do not feel that the Finders have disbanded as reported by their leaders be instead, as reported in their master plan, have appeared to disband to prevent further detection by law. enforcement or social service officials. I firmly believe that this group should be monitored in a general sense and if further developments occur they should be noted."

(The report having been written at a time when the police force was far less conscious and adapt in investigating child abuse cases, child pornography only became illegal in the US at the federal level in 1978, so the explanation that the child abuse is only happen stance is very misjudged - or part of the effort cover-up it up. Elizabeth Vos notes that the documents in the 2019 FBI file release were arranged in a way to make the child abuse allegations seem unlikely, while at the same time key claims by Ramon Martinez were confirmed.)
