Stephen Mark Flynn is a Scottish politician who has been the Scottish National Party (SNP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Aberdeen South since 2019.
Stephen Flynn has been leader of the SNP in the House of Commons since December 2022.[1]
Genocide in Gaza
On 8 August 2025, Flynn wrote to Prime Minister Keir Starmer calling for Parliament to be recalled from its Summer recess to deal with the situation in Gaza.
- Dear Prime Minister,
- Benjamin Netanyahu's government has just approved a plan that will guarantee that genocide is ongoping.
- Strong actions, not just words, are desperately needed.
- You have the power to immediately recall the Westminster Parliament to:
- Immediately recognise the State of Palestine before it is brutally wiped off the map
- Stop all UK arms sales, and weapons components for Israel
- Immediately summon the Israeli Ambassador
- Commit to enforcing the international arrest warrants against Benjamin Netanyahu and members of his Cabinet
- Enforce effective economic sanctions on Israel
- Permanently suspend talks on a UK/Israel free trade agreement whilst the genocide continues
- Seek a UN resolution sanctioning Netanyahu's plan for ongoing genocide in Gaza
- Work with the international community to isolate the Netanyahu government and stop the genocidal plan
- The UK is not powerless in what is happening. You can do all of these things if you choose.
- It is time to stop being complicit in this genocide – it's time to act.
