Rolfe Kingsley was a CIA officer.[1]
Activities
"Kingsley was among the earliest employees of the Office of Strategic Services, the World War II precursor to the CIA, where he distinguished himself in operations in the Middle East and in Germany. He joined the Central Intelligence Agency after its formation in 1947 and worked in directorate of operations in Turkey and as chief of the European division, among other prominent Cold War assignments."[2]
He was stationed in Turkey 1953-57, Denmark 1957-60 and Canada 1960-65, and Chief of the European Division 1965-68[3].
He moved to head the Soviet Division in 1968, where he worked in opposition to counterintelligence chief James Angleton to discredit defector Anatoliy Golitsyn in favour of Yuri Nosenko. Kingsley retired in 1973 after serving as station chief in London.[4]
