Karin Kneissl is an Austrian diplomat, journalist, and politician. She was Minister of Foreign Affairs between 2017 and 2019. She has lived in Russia since 2023, describing herself as a political refugee.[1]
Sanctions
In March 2026, the liberal party NEOS proposed a withdrawal of Kneissl's Austrian citizenship, asking the Lower Austrian state government to investigate whether Kneissl "is in the service of a foreign state" and "significantly harms the interests or reputation of the republic by her behavior".[2]
