John S. "Jack" Morgan was a CIA spook who was active "fighting Communism" in Central- and South America.^[1]^[2]

Background

He studied at Cornell University before deciding to suspend his college education. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943, and served as a control tower operator in China and India during the remainder of WWII, returning to the U.S. to finish his undergraduate education at Syracuse University. After graduation from Syracuse in 1947, he took a Masters Degree at the School of Advanced International Studies in Washington DC.

In 1951, he began a 26-year career in the clandestine service at the Central Intelligence Agency, working in six overseas locations before his retirement in 1977. He is known to have been stationed in Mexico in 1956.^[3] He was Chief of Station in Quito, Ecuador in 1969. He was chief in Portugal just before the 1974 Carnation Revolution.

He retired in 1977.
