Gordon Dimmack is a British journalist who describes himself as a roving reporter, having covered the Extinction Rebellion protests in London in April 2019, along with the arrest of Julian Assange and subsequent protests:

"I’ll continue to report from the scene wherever possible on the illegal extradition of a journalist for doing journalism better than anybody else."

Declaration of Conscience

On Saturday 12 July 2025, Dimmack posted on X:

My name is Gordon Dimmack. I am a journalist and a citizen of the UK.

On Monday morning, I will walk into a police station and peacefully hand myself in.

Why? Because I support Palestine Action, and I have encouraged others to do the same.

Under the Terrorism Act 2000, that now carries a potential 14-year prison sentence. Not for harming anyone. Not for inciting violence. But for supporting people who oppose genocide, and encouraging others to do so.

That is the state of this country in 2025.

I will not plead ignorance. I know the law. I know the risk. And I am making this decision with full awareness that the state may try to make an example of me.

Let them.

Because if we now live in a country where saying “I oppose genocide” is treated as a criminal act — if peaceful solidarity with those who resist arms dealers is now considered terrorism — then the problem isn’t me.

The problem is the law. The problem is the state. The problem is the moral vacuum swallowing this country whole.

This is not just about Palestine Action. This is about freedom of conscience, freedom of expression, and the criminalisation of moral clarity.

If they want to arrest me for standing on the side of humanity, they are welcome to.

But let the record show: I will never apologise for doing the right thing.

Let history remember that I stood up. And let it remember every name, every badge number, every uniform that tried to silence those who dared to say: Not in my name.

I oppose genocide.

I support Palestine Action.

And if that makes me a criminal — then so be it.

Update:

Walked into a police station.

Handed in a declaration stating I support Palestine Action and have encouraged others to. Told them this law criminalises conscience.

They let me walk right back out.

You can’t arrest what’s everywhere.

Gordon Dimmack reports:

"The corporate and corporate media have sunk to such depths of distrust, that the public are tuning in to the rantings of a middle aged man on his YouTube channel instead.

"That’s a damning indictment on the state of Western media today, in my opinion. Which is really something considering I’m the middle aged man in question.

"The Fourth Estate has become the Fifth Column, in the UK and many other Western countries, which is extremely dangerous. Democracy can only thrive if it has an independent media holding power and government to task, unearthing lies and corruption rather than being complicit in them, as our media now sadly is."

On 25 May 2019, in his first publicly-released comments to supporters since his arrest, WikiLeaks founder and publisher Julian Assange has detailed the repressive conditions he faces in Britain’s Belmarsh Prison and called for a campaign against his threatened extradition to the United States:

“I am defenceless and am counting on you and others of good character to save my life,” Assange wrote, adding, “Truth ultimately is all we have.”

In 2019 Julian Assange wrote a letter to Gordon Dimmack, who decided to make it public following the announcement by the US Justice Department of additional charges against Assange under the Espionage Act of 1917. The letter was republished by WSWS in full:

"I have been isolated from all ability to prepare to defend myself, no laptop, no internet, no computer, no library so far, but even if I do get access it will be just for half an hour with everyone else once a week. Just two visits a month and it takes weeks to get someone on the call list and the Catch-22 in getting their details to be security screened. Then all calls except lawyer are recorded and are a maximum 10 minutes and in a limited 30 minutes each day in which all prisoners compete for the phone. And credit? Just a few pounds a week and no one can call in.

"A superpower that has been preparing for 9 years with hundreds of people and untold millions spent on the case. I am defenceless and am counting on you and others of good character to save my life

"I am unbroken albeit literally surrounded by murderers. But the days when I could read and speak and organise to defend myself, my ideals and my people are over until I am free. Everyone else must take my place.

"The US government or rather those regrettable elements in it that hate truth liberty and justice want to cheat their way into my extradition and death rather than letting the public hear the truth for which I have won the highest awards in journalism and have been nominated seven times for the Nobel Peace Prize.

"Truth ultimately is all we have."
