A chef cooks food professionally.

A chef is a professional cook and tradesperson who is proficient in all aspects of food preparation, often focusing on a particular cuisine. They work in restaurants, hotels, or catering services. In this position they are responsible for preparing meals, creating menus, to ensure the food does have the necessary quality, is well-presented and they may lead a team of cooks in a kitchen.

Rich people may chose to have their personal chef, who then is with them all (most) of the time, may travel with them and in turn, will be witness to a lot of the things that are going on.
