Bernard Ramanantsoa is a French administror who was Director of the HEC School of Management from 1996 until 2015. He attended the 2010 Bilderberg conference.
Background
Son of a Malagasy father and a French mother, he is the nephew of General Gabriel Ramanantsoa, president of Madagascar between 1972 and 1975.
Education
Bernard Ramanantsoa studied in France. After his scientific preparatory classes at the jesuit Sainte-Geneviève private high school, he joined the Higher Institute of Aeronautics and Space (Supaéro).[1] He then completed his MBA at HEC Paris in 1976, and graduated as a major in his class. He cumulated university degrees by obtaining in 1987 a degree in sociology, in 1991 a doctorate in management sciences (Paris-Dauphine University) and in 1993 in the history of philosophy (at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.[2]
Career
In parallel with these university courses, he joined the business school HEC Paris in 1979 as a permanent professor.
Nicknamed "Rama" by the students, he was made HEC turn international when becoming director in 1996. In 2015, he gave up the management of HEC where he was succeeded by the Canadian Peter Todd.[3]
He is also a director of the European think tank EuropaNova.[4]
In June 2016, he was appointed member of the board of directors of Orange SA, for a four-year term.[5]
His two children, including Marc Ramanantsoa, graduated from HEC Paris[6].
