[ItaMilRadar] Israeli Air Force Boeing 767 “Zion Wings” Flies Under New Callsign OMM011 Amid Iranian Attacks

Messaggio da RSS Feed Bot »

Today an Israeli Air Force Boeing 767-338ER, known by its nickname “Zion Wings”, departed the Beersheba area and operated offshore along the Mediterranean under the previously unrecorded callsign OMM011. The aircraft, registered 4X-ISR, performed holding patterns west of Israel before returning inland. The timing — following Iranian missile and drone attacks against Israeli territory — gives this flight immediate strategic relevance. “Zion Wings” is not a fleet designation but the commonly used nickname for Israel’s dedicated state transport aircraft, comparable in symbolic role to Air Force One in the United States. Its movements are therefore never routine. A New Callsign During Active Hostilities In recent hours, Iran has launched retaliatory strikes toward Israel in response to joint Israeli-American operations against Iranian targets. Air defense systems were activated across multiple regions, and the country remains on elevated alert. Against this backdrop, the appearance of a new callsign — OMM011 — is operationally significant. This is the first time we have recorded it associated with 4X-ISR. Callsign changes can indicate mission sensitivity, modified routing, or enhanced operational security during high-risk periods. The aircraft’s offshore maneuver west of Ashkelon and Gaza suggests controlled timing rather than point-to-point transport. Holding patterns in such contexts may serve airspace deconfliction, secure communications alignment, or arrival sequencing at protected facilities inland. Whether this was a precautionary relocation, a leadership movement, or a readiness posture adjustment remains unclear.
