Occultism, various theories and practices involving a belief in and knowledge or use of supernatural forces or beings. The word derives from occult, itself adopted from the Latin word occultus, meaning "hidden" or "secret."[1] Occult rituals and symbols are common in freemasonry, but also in a number of other secret societies and cults.
Occult symbolism
A guard during entry of the royal family towards Balmoral Castle in 2023 holds one hand over his right eye.[2][3] The gesture is not a military salute, but could be mistaken as such without paying attention. It is given only to some cars that enter. Since this is a yearly formal event for the Royals, it stands to reason that ceremonial protocol has high standards, which makes the possibility that this is a simple mishap unlikely.

There are a number of actions that can be interpreted as occult symbols, often are hidden in plain sight. Hidden symbolism is rife in freemasonry, but also in satanism, occult Judaism such as Kabbalah, Islamic occultism, and cults. Part of initiation ceremonies, signaling other initiates, guidelines for action and to aware outsiders, mocking their powerlessness.
